Stop Emotional Eating
So how do you stop emotional eating?
Emotional eating is a skill that you learned to cope with emotional difficulties. Unfortunately it has worked well for you for years.
So it has become a learned behavior and is probably deeply ingrained.
So while it is possible to overcome emotional eating, it won't just disappear overnight. In order to end emotional eating, you need to learn new skills to handle your feelings.
Here are some ways to do this:
1) Qualified Therapist
Some people choose a qualified therapist, who has experience with emotional eating and will guide them through the healing process. The one drawback here is that it can be very expensive.
2) Do It Yourself
Other people try to tough it out themselves and relearn new ways of coping without eating.
However it can be difficult to teach yourself new coping methods - when you were never taught them in the first place. That's why you turned to food.
3) Do It Yourself - Books
Some people read books on emotional eating - which can be very useful. (We'll be listing and reviewing several of them on this website in the future).
The problem with this is that again, you're on your own. And just reading a book is probably not enough to change a deeply ingrained pattern of emotional eating.
4) Shrink Yourself (Recommended)
Another alternative (and the one we recommend) is taking the Shrink Yourself online program. This is an interactive program designed by psychiatrist Dr Roger Gould.
Dr Gould is one of the world’s leading authorities on emotional eating. He has pioneered the use of online therapy sessions focusing on weight loss and emotional eating.
His 12-week Shrink Yourself program was created to help people learn new ways of coping with their emotions, stop overeating and lose weight.
It’s completely personalized to your unique emotional issues and walks you step by step through the process of ending your emotional dependence on food.
You can even try a free session to see what the process is like.
There are other ways you can stop emotional overeating, but we think the Shrink Yourself program is the healthiest, most effective way to do it. You learn skills that you can use the rest of your life to stay slim and free from emotional eating.
